“What’s The Energy Nerd Show? Well, it’s like Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis…but less stupid.”
— Bruce Biewald
The Energy Nerd Show Manifesto
1. The show is by and for energy nerds.
2. It’s like lots of other things, but different.
3. No power point slide decks, no pre-scripted text.
4. There ARE stupid questions. And we're going to ask a lot of them!
5. Things that are interesting, important, and/or inspirational should be shared.
6. Such things should be shared by people who are interested in them, believe them to be important, and/or have been inspired by them.
7. A well made graph can change a mind, and a changed mind can change the world.
8. TED talks can be interesting, important, and inspirational but they’re overproduced and we get bored with them.
9. An audio podcast can be great! But where are the graphs?!
10. As the Alpha Nerd, and author of this Manifesto, Bruce is in charge of everything but responsible for nothing.
11. The Energy Nerd Show episodes are "commentary and criticism" and nothing we're doing here is a copyright violation. Nothing. Everything falls under the fair use doctrine. Everything.
12. If the show stops being fun to make then we'll stop making it - and if it isn't fun to watch then you should stop watching it.
13. Whimsy, curiosity, and playfulness are consistent with, indeed essential to, good science, engineering, and thinking.
14. Each episode shall be approximately 100 nanocenturies long.
